The Lubrizol Corporation’s Engineered Polymers business announces that it will highlight Estane® VSN 9000, an innovative thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), at Chinaplas 2016, which is being held April 25-28, 2016. Estane VSN 9000 TPU is designed to improve the aesthetics and performance of high-end eyewear frames. Estane VSN 9000 benefits designers, brand owners and producers of premium eyewear through a set of unique technology attributes including: Self-healing Capabilities: Scratches caused during production, handling and assembly of eyewear frames represent one of the major defects found in quality control. The self-healing capabilities of Estane VSN 9000 help reduce these defects by enabling minor scratches and imperfections to be repaired. Mechanical Properties: Estane VSN 9000 easily exceeds the “Pull Strength Test” (force > 150 lbs. to pass), demonstrating critical toughness and flexibility required for resistance to damage and long-term eyewear frame durability. Excellent Dimension Stability: Estane VSN 9000 absorbs significantly less water (tested at 70°C for seven days) and shows more uniform shrinkage than Nylon 12, providing improved dimensional control, essential to ensuring superior fit and functional properties. Chemical Resistance: Estane VSN 9000 offers better chemical resistance to sunscreens, lotions, hand creams and other frequently encountered substances, surpassing that of Nylon 12 and Polycarbonate, for improved aesthetics throughout the life of the eyewear frame. Penson Lin, Lubrizol industrial marketing manager, Asia Pacific, notes, “This innovative material is the only engineered thermoplastic with self-healing capabilities that we know of in the market today. Its purpose is to improve initial and long-wear aesthetics, fit and function of premium eyewear frames in ways that benefit brands, designers, producers and consumers. We’re excited to demonstrate these benefits at Chinaplas 2016.” See Lubrizol Engineered Polymers at Chinaplas, booth #N2A41, or, for more information, visit www.lubrizol.com/engineeredpolymers or contact [email protected].
